Brief:
This was a budget-led project; the client’s priority was to reduce redundant space without compromising on benefits of contemporary living.
Response:
The site is accessed by a public road to the south, so it was necessary to bring car access to the rear of house to preserve privacy and views to the south. The house is broken into three simple A-roof buildings, the configuration of which create distinct outdoor spaces; the entrance courtyard is formed by the utility and living buildings, and the terrace/patio area is enclosed by the living and sleeping buildings. Utility spaces are fully considered and integrated into the layout.
